Fair-Weather Cadence EP was the first official release for calic. The EP was recorded in my apartment in Seattle Washington over short burst of visits from my friend Jarred. With no intentions of making any kind of record, we began to record our 'jam' sessions. Jarred who has a very erratic style of playing guitar, keeps it very interesting. He is not accustom to recording and tends to tense up when he knows he is being recorded. Most of the guitar parts where record without him knowing. The song Pseudomathematics is a 'live' recording and was recorded over two takes from him playing a on the spot guitar rift to a drum loop / synth part I had started playing. We both have a strong interest in numerology / astrology, that's where the song titles come from. I mix / mastered the tracks over the summer of '11 and posted it online.
This track was specifically recorded for contribution towards a Holy Page Records compilation. Holy Page Records is a Arizona label run by Christian Filardo. You can find more about this label HERE and download this compilation for free HERE. This track was the first track I recorded after moving out of Seattle and arriving to Arizona. The kid in the track singing the aahh's and ooohhh's is my younger brother.
Quiet Impulse was created by the blending of two Good Amount albums ( Now goes by Christian Filardo) In A Quiet Way and Impulse Try. The songs were created on a whim listening to song Friend Attitude. I started to get an idea in my head for a beat to it. I then began 'dorking' with the song thinking nothing would come of it. As I started to play around with the song I started getting something really cool sounding. I begin listening in depth to other release of Christian Filardo's. The song 'I mean it' stood out to me and I formed the idea to bled the two together. I thought "Wow theses two songs layered have such an organic feel together !" Thus created the formula for the release. The songs were released on Holy Page Records in September 11'.
